Getting here

The last mile has no road.

No vehicle reaches the campsite. Tharun takes you up the rough track in his Thar as far as a vehicle can go, and you walk the rest. Arriving is already part of the stay.

Facing east

The valley fills with light before you're properly awake.

The property looks east over the valley. On a clear morning the sun comes up through the Western Ghats and you watch it from where you slept.

Two ways to stay.

Both include dinner, breakfast, campfire and coffee or tea. The hut sleeps five to six; we can host 20–25 across the site.

A jungle wood cottage with hay laid over it. Sleeps five to six. Deeper in, quieter, and closer to the wilderness than the tents.

Cave

Tents pitched under the overhanging rock of the stone cave

Jungle camping between mountain ranges — a cascading river, unexplored waterfalls, deep jungle woods. A full day's trek in, three days to walk the round. Tharun guides it, and it only runs half the year.

Set off with packed lunch and trek in to the stone cave.

Day two

Around 6 km to Pangare Camping, our halfway point back.

Day three

Around 8 km back to where we started.

Tharun runs the campsite. He drives you up the track, cooks over the fire, and leads the treks himself — the river hike, the off-road trails, and the three-day walk in to the stone cave.
